Praise God, World, a modern psalm

Here’s another poem inspired by a passage from God Makes the Rivers to Flow; An Anthology of the World’s Sacred Poetry & Prose by Eknath Easwaran.

Praise God, World

“Raise a shout for the Lord, all the earth…”
Psalm 100

Praise the Lord, O computer.
Praise the Lord, iPhone, iPad, iPod.
Shout hallelujah, posters.
Glorify God, socks.
Videos, say God is good.
Stereo, celebrate God’s holiness.
Books, be glad that God made you.
Chairs, bless God’s holy name.
Worship God, shirts and pants.
Sing his wonders, printer.
Filing cabinets, don’t keep it in.
Afghans, enter God’s presence with rejoicing.
Thank God, lamps, for all creation.
Exclaim God’s gloriousness, carpet.
Bed, know God as the all in all.
Desk, bask in God’s everlasting love.
Seashells, feel God’s infinite joy.
Candles, rest in God’s unlimited peace.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
