In God Makes the Rivers to Flow; An Anthology of the World’s Sacred Poetry & Prose, Eknath Easwaran includes a selection from Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook entitled “Radiant Is the World Soul.” I’ve written the following poem-like reflections inspired by this selection.
All There Is
Proudly I ascend
Toward the heights of the world soul
That gives life to the universe.
How majestic the vision –
Come, enjoy,
Come, find peace,
Embrace delight,
Taste and see that God is good.
—Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook
When I ascend toward the heights of the world soul, I do not physically ascend.
I am not climbing a tree or mountain. I am not flying above the clouds.
But I could just as well be.
I am rising. And I am diving deep.
I am expanding. And I am coming to one point.
I am sitting still. And I am vibrating as fast as light.
There is something about slowing down my thoughts and speeding up my frequency that seems higher, bigger, greater.
We may be infinitesimally small compared to the universe, but we are infinitely large in our souls.
And we can meet the world soul in our consciousness.
And what do we see from that consciousness?
We see how small our troubles are and how big our potential is.
We see who we truly are.
It is a vision so glorious and delicious, brighter than the North Star, tastier than a tree-ripened peach, the juice dribbling down our chins.
And from that consciousness, we find the space in our hearts wider than the widest canyon and more tranquil, the place of peace and joy.
Oh, glory, hallelujah!
Our God is good. Our God is good always.
When we ascend, we enter the space in which all-there-is is God’s magnificent grace.
I just looked up Rabbi Kook’s poem and came across this. Beautifully written!!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it.
