In God Makes the Rivers to Flow; An Anthology of the World’s Sacred Poetry & Prose, Eknath Easwaran includes a selection from the Ortha Nan Gaidheal entitled “Silence.” I’ve written the following poem-like reflections inspired by this selection.
Peace
Calm me, O Lord, as you stilled the storm.
Still me, O Lord, keep me from harm.
Let all tumult within me cease.
Enfold me, Lord, in your peace.
—The Ortha Nan Gaidheal
Your peace before me.
Your peace behind me.
Your peace to the right of me.
Your peace to the left of me.
Your peace above me.
Your peace below me.
Your peace within me.
Your peace all around me.
May peace guide my steps.
May peace guide my words.
May peace silence my thoughts.
May peace fill my heart.
May peace fill the hearts of everyone my life touches today.
May I radiate peace.
May the peace in my heart fill my house.
May the peace in my heart fill my neighborhood.
May the peace in my heart fill this city.
May the peace in my heart fill this state.
May the peace in my heart fill my country.
May the peace in my heart fill this continent.
May the peace in my heart fill the world.
May the peace in my heart fill the solar system.
May the peace in my heart fill the galaxy.
May the peace in my heart fill the universe.
May the peace in my heart fill every dimension of the physical plane.
May the peace in my heart fill every dimension of the emotional plane.
May the peace in my heart fill every dimension of the mental plane.
May the peace in my heart fill the quantum field.
May I know in my heart my oneness with all that is.
May I feel the presence of the Lord, who gives me peace.
May I feel the love of God, which creates peace.
May I feel the joy of God, born out of peace.
May I inhale peace.
May I exhale peace.
Let me be an instrument of peace.
